Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plates
Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plates have been issued every year since 1908. ALL plates listed on this page are in excellent condition and are first quality. You can click on any Title/Description that appears in Blue to see a photo of that plate.
The 2008 Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plates are now in stock! Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP = "List Price") for the 2008 plates is $89; my price $59; you save 34%.
Factory Seconds: Prior to 1988, Royal Copenhagen released some second quality Christmas plates, indicated with a vertical scratch through the three-wavy-line trademark. They often have some small flaw or blemish, frequently not noticable when the plate is hanging on the wall. I sell these at a 50% discount from the first quality price. Second quality plates can represent substantial savings and excellent value; in most cases, once they are up on the wall, no one will know except you. Dealers: These sell especially well in antique shops and malls where collectors can see what they are buying. Please inquire if you are interested in purchasing Factory Seconds. My inventory is limited and changes frequently.
Foreign Language Plates: Between 1908 and 1952, most Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates carried the inscription JUL or JULEN, the Danish word for Christmas. (JUL is pronounced like the English word YULE). After 1952, this inscription was dropped and the plates show only the date. Between 1908 and 1944, a few plates each year were issued with an inscription meaning Christmas in languages other than Danish. The most common of these is the German WEIHNACHTEN, produced each year from 1908 through 1944; I have about a dozen of these WEIHNACHTEN plates in stock, priced 25% less than the corresponding JUL plate. (For example, the 1915 JUL plate is listed above at $140; the 1915 WEIHNACHTEN plate would be $140 - 25% = $115.) There are also plates that are inscribed with the English word CHRISTMAS, the French NOEL, the Dutch KERSTMIS, and the Czech VANOCE. Plates in these last four languages are fairly scarce and sell for a premium; I am always interested in purchasing these plates, especially plates with the Dutch word KERSTMIS. I currently have eight NOEL plates in stock, and recently sold three VANOCE and four CHRISTMAS plates; please inquire if interested. Unless you specify that you are looking for one of these non-Danish-language plates, I will always send the JUL plate.
