B&G Christmas Heritage Plates
Christmas in America: A series of ten plates launched
by B&G in 1986, featuring American landmarks. These plates are 5
inches in diameter, hand painted under the glaze in cobalt blue with molded
decoration (like the regular Christmas plates), and sold only in the United
States. It was announced at the onset that the series would run for just
ten years; the last plate in the series was issued in 1995. The series
proved so popular that B&G announced a similar new series beginning in
1996.
Christmas Heritage: A second series of eight plates
that is virtually identical in style, size, color and detail to the Christmas
in America series. Most collectors of the Christmas in America series
have continued their collections with the Christmas Heritage series. This
series ended in 2003.
Christmas in America Bells:
Beginning in
1988, B&G launched a series of matching porcelain bells. The 1988 First
Edition features the same view as the 1986 First Edition plate: Christmas Eve
in Williamsburg. Subsequent years had the same view as the plate for the
corresponding year. The bells are 2.5 inches in diameter and about 3.25
inches high including the star on top. The star is pieced and the bell is
designed to double as a Christmas Tree Ornament in addition to being a bell.
(Bells have always been a traditional Christmas tree decoration.) Christmas
Heritage Bells were also issued from 1996 to 2003, but I currently have
none in stock. Inquire if interested.
