Yale University Plates by Wedgwood
Wedgwood issued a set of College Plates for the Yale University in 1931: twelve different views, transfer printed in blue on a 10.5 inch diameter Queensware (earthenware) plate, with a floral border and slightly scalloped edge. These plates proved so popular with alumni/ae that they were reissued several times, and matching salagdplates, bread plates, cups and saucers, platters, teapot, creamer and sugar bowl were also made. One of the most extensive services of College China ever made by Wedgwood.
In the table below. plates priced at $65 are from the original 1931 edition. Plates priced at $49** are from the 1949 edition; the edition is under Yale Fence on back of plate. Same views, but there might be very slight differences in details.
All plates were produced by Wedgwood and are in excellent condition.
