Rutgers University Plate by Wedgwood

Wedgwood released this view of Rutgers in 1966 to mark the 200th Anniversary of the College. Transfer printed in brown, approximately 10 inches in diameter, excellent condition  --  no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs, $49.  More than one available.  On the back, it reads:

"in 1766, under the King's authority, Governor William Franklin issued the charter for a college, named for Charlotte of Mecklenburg, Consort of George III of England.  It was named for the Queen and was destined to become Rutgers, the Land-Grant College and State University of New Jersey.  This plate is produced in recognition of the College's 200th Anniversary.  It shows Queen's Building, the first permanent home of the college.  The plate is Queen's shape, designed by Josiah Wedgwood for Queen Charlotte in 1765, and is made of fine earthenware called Queen's Ware."
