Brown University Plates by Wedgwood

Wedgwood issued a set of College Plates for the Brown University in 1938: 6 different views, transfer printed in brown on a 10.25 inch diameter Queensware (earthenware) plate.  The border was created for this series, and features the Brown University crest molded in relief at the top of each plate.  These plates proved so popular with alumni/ae that they were reissued several times, and two new views were introduced in the 1960s (not shown here).  

All plates were produced by Wedgwood and are  in excellent condition.

Wedgwood also issued this plate with the School Seal and Motto in the center, surrounded by a printed border with various camp scenes.   Not seen as often as the above six, it might look good hanging on a wall as a single plate.  Also priced as $49.
