Bing & Grøndahl CM61
Scoresbysund, Greenland 1924
A hunter returns home with a goose and a fox over his shoulder. The roof of a building is just visible over the field of snow at his feet, with a harbor and mountains beyond. Scoresbysund is a town on the east coast of Greenland which now has the Greenlandic name of Ittoqqortoormiit. July through September are the only months when there is open water for fishing and access by ship. The area is quite isolated from the rest of Greenland; travel between Scoresbysund and the rest of Greenland is usually by way of Iceland. Hunting is one of the main occupations.
