Politiken, Copenhagen 1884 - 1909
Politiken is the second largest newspaper in Denmark, with daily circulation of about half a million copies. It is also a significant publishing house for books and magazines. Politiken was founded October 1st, 1884; this plate marks its 25th anniversary. The building shown on the plate still stands prominently on the Town Hall Square. At the bottom of the plate, Saint George is shown slaying a dragon -- a symbol for the triumph of good over evil.
